Last year, the University of Economics in Kraków launched a new course of study - global business services. More and more large companies and corporations in Kraków are operating in this area. Candidates interested in taking up this course of study more than doubled this year.

For the 2021/2022 academic year, 90 applicants have set their sights on the new global business services (GBS) major. For the upcoming academic year 2022/2023, 208 applicants have already applied for the GBS major. However, if we sum up the applicants who chose this major in both first, second and third order, we note 163 interested applicants last year and already 403 in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Such growing interest in the course of study that prepares students to work in the business services sector is not at all surprising. This has been a constantly growing sector for many years, with 80,000 people working in almost 250 service centres in Kraków. New entrants to the market include companies such as PepsiCo, Westinghouse and Dyson.

- Most people not connected to the GBS market have a false image of working in these companies - for them, employees do simple, repetitive work and have no impact on the business. This was the case a few years ago when the GBS sector started in Kraków, but the last decade has been a time of transformation - now companies have automated simple processes and GBS specialists employed in Kraków focus on analytical work, being advisors and supporting the company's front line, comments Jarosław Dudoń from Cisco.
