The task of the programme operators will be to find the most interesting young foreign companies with the appropriate growth potential and bring them to Poland. The accelerator will take care of the right start for the young company in Poland, and then make it possible to establish business relations, resulting in the implementation of the startup's product or acquisition of investor capital.

Polish Agency for Enterprise Development announces the results of the "Acceleration Programmes - Poland Prize" competition. 33 accelerators took part in the competition, which presented original concepts of searching for and bringing to Poland foreign teams ready to implement innovative solutions in our country. The value of submitted applications exceeded PLN 326 million.

The competition was aimed at selecting accelerator programme operators who have international experience in supporting startups and can effectively cooperate with business partners. A total of 33 applications were submitted, amounting to over 326 million PLN. The selected accelerators give the greatest chance that the companies established with their help will provide groundbreaking solutions and effectively cooperate with domestic business.

Operators of the "Acceleration Programmes - Poland Prize" will have at their disposal a total amount that is over PLN 26 million higher than the originally assumed budget. The average project budget is over PLN 9.5 million. PARP will use the EU money to finance programme management costs and cash grants for startups.

- The main objective of the Poland Prize programme is to support specialised operators in providing foreign startups with comprehensive development opportunities. A huge advantage of all nine acceleration programmes is that they guarantee startups cooperation with mature, domestic companies. These companies are potential recipients of technological solutions created by startups, who are already ready to test and implement the most innovative products. Moreover, such a relationship and cooperation brings very tangible business benefits to both economic entities. It increases competitiveness and strengthens the market position of the larger one, creates opportunities for self-fulfilment and a sense of stability for the smaller partner. It should be a win-win deal for both - says Jaros³aw Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Development, Labour and Technology.

The task of the programme operators will be to find the most interesting young foreign companies with the right growth potential and bring them to Poland. The accelerator will take care of the right start for the young company in Poland, and then make it possible to establish business relations, resulting in the implementation of the startup's product or obtaining investor capital.

- In Poland Prize we create conditions for foreign companies to develop and prospectively operate in Poland. We strengthen the image of Poland as a place with the most attractive conditions for the development of start-up entrepreneurship in our part of Europe,' admits Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy.

The Poland Prize acceleration programmes will begin with a scouting phase, i.e. activities aimed at attracting startups with the right growth potential from outside Poland. Selected accelerators with their offer will reach dozens of the most promising foreign markets around the world in order to acquire startups with the most interesting solutions for the programme.

The selected teams, after registering their company in Poland, can count on a grant of up to 50 thousand PLN. These funds should provide the young company with conditions necessary to start business activity in our country: they will finance the first 3 months of operations on the Polish market, provide support to the startup's tutor, expand the team, establish relations and promotion.

Startups that establish cooperation with a business partner during this period will be able to receive a grant of up to 250 thousand PLN. These funds should finance the acceleration process, i.e. intensive work of a startup on improving its product, testing of the solution in close cooperation with the technology recipient or business development responding to the requirements of potential investors.

- This is the second edition of the Poland Prize programme, which is organised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development. Its pilot version was implemented in 2018-2020 and helped bring over 100 young companies to Poland. The number of people willing to run further acceleration programmes for foreign business talent shows that this format is becoming increasingly popular. Such data is pleasing and shows that we play an important role in the global race for startups' attention - assesses Mikołaj Różycki, Vice-President of Polish Agency for Enterprise Development.

Accelerators will also offer support to startups in the post-acceleration phase, trying to maximise the results of a given acceleration, e.g. by continuing or expanding selected development activities. In this way, foreign teams should permanently bind their activity to the Polish startup ecosystem.

The launch of acceleration programmes by selected accelerators is planned for May 2021.
